Emiko called out when she woke up around 6:30 this morning, saying "Daddy...Daddy."
Hope suggested that I respond and I trundled out of bed and went into Emi's room. She was lying in her bed, surrounded by her blankets and her stuffed animals. Quite quiet and very calm.
As always, she told me "I woke up."
And I responded, "Yes, you did. Do you want to go cuddle in my bed?"
"No, I want to go downstairs.I want to check on Molly."
"But Mommy is in the bathroom. Do you want to go see her in the bathroom?"
"No, I want to go downstairs. I want to check on MOLLY and Izzy!"
"Ohhhh...they aren't her right now."
A sad face.
"We can ask them to have a sleepover next time they are here. That way they could be here in the morning."
A happy face.
"Yes, I want to go downstairs to check on Molly!"

Cheeseburgers and Sushi
Just a quick note. I am on day 15 and still no soda. And I have still not earned (nor given away) a sushi dinner.

Sushi
Disclaimer: My mother reads this blog occasionally and I want to assure her that prior to this, I was not using my cell phone in an unsafe manner. That said, she believes any use of a cell phone in a car is unsafe but that would be an argument best suited for another day.
I fully expect to be eating sushi within the next two weeks or so.
Molly and I have entered into the pact. We have made an agreement to no longer text message from our cars (read, write or send). The car must be stationary for us to use our phone in this manner (common sense, right?).
Terms of the agreement are as follows. We are holding ourselves to the honor system. If one of us violates our pact, we must confess. The person in violation will be treating the other to a nice sushi dinner.
I'm getting a bit hungry....

Speaking of fires...

Our friend Molly was accepted into fire academy very recently. When I found out her dream was coming true a few weeks ago, I did my little happy dance in my garage where no one could see me (and where there is nary a camera to be seen).
She had her first day of orientation a week ago Saturday. She picked up all her turnout gear on the same day and we promptly invited her over for dinner that night. And we had to break out the camera! While she is the hottest fire cadet in her class, she assures us no one will be cutting her any slack. She proved it last Saturday when she made a sarcastic comment during class and earned herself and her fellow recruits a set of push ups.
Enough of that...onto the pictures!
